Workshop Wednesday is Back! Winter 2011 #2

Bubble Visor Fairing by HOODLUM SOCIETY:

This idea was in my head for a while and today it became reality. Those Bubble visors stink like hell so this is a way better use and I think it looks Ultra Cool. Made a bracket, welded some smaller brackets on top, found some nice hidden bolts at the Praxis and ready is Kees. Makes the bike faster/cooler/more aerodynamic and costs only 25 bucks total, thats the cheapest tuning I ever did! Like it or not....

Maisplak GP Boekel 2011

No holeshot but rode a descent race in Boekel. The track in Boekel was never better than this Sunday, no mud, nice jumps and no rain so I had a good time on the KTM #26. Didn't finish last, I was even in the middle of the pack this time so my MX career goes on another year, mayby Race #3 in two weeks, only rain can stop that.
Foto by Digiwilly I think.

Workshop Wednesday is Back! Winter 2011 #1: MX Bike Rack

Sold the FORD Econoline Van and needed to find a solution to transport the KTM so I checked for trailers but I hate them so I bought this nice Bike Rack from Dave Cooper in the UK. I made some modifications and today I installed a new Hitch from Peter's Garage from Germany and now it is PERFECT! I'm stoked and can load my MX in a few minutes so no more excuses to ride that Modderfokker!

GP Maisplak Motocross Race #1 2011

First race this year, after two hours of training in 2011 I was ready...not. First moto was not very good, I even had to fight back from last place but overtook at least one rider so my carreer didn't end here. B-Final was way better, second guy out of the gate, about 7th through the first turn and finishe around 20th place and had a good time on my KTM SX144. Next week is Boekel, ready for a holeshot....

Biltwell Exhaust kit.

Started with the exhaust of Avy's bike and thought it would be ready in a few hours: WRONG!
I really thought it is a piece of cake to make an exhaust but now it will be a "winterproject" hahaha. The Biltwell pipe kit is very nice and should be enough to make the two pipes but with cutting pipes out of the blue without a plan I might need two kits. I will use the mufflers of the 1986 XL1100, top one will be for the front cylinder and lower for the back cylinder, don't have a plan yet but I have 6 months to go for the next show....

Customer #0000002 : Bart from www.fatbmx.com

Today was not "motorcycle day", I made a two flash holder for FATBMX's Bart de Jong. I took some old BMX parts like a piece of S&M Racebars and a Shadow Conspiracy 44T Sprocket guard. Tig welded two bolts into the 7/8" S&M pipe so it fits the original tread of the original flash stand. Bolted the sprocket guard on top so it can holt two flashes, simple but effective.

Ford Econoline Custom 100 Van 1972 : SOLD!

Bought this FORD Econoline E100 1972 Van in 1996 to move all my BMX parts and travelled all over Europe (Freestyle CH Zurich/KOC and Backyard Jam UK/10+ times to the Masters Germany etc) and had a lot of Superstars in this awesome Van. (Mat Hoffman, Dave Mirra, Colin Winkelman R.I.P., Sergio Layos, Punjab, Biz, Javier Ortega and lots more). Now after 15 years its time to let it go, a nice gentleman from Beverwijk will take care of it and keep it in good shape. Thanks my friend for the 15 awesome years!!!

Zion Park 2011

"Bagger" is not a nice word in Dutch but I like riding them in the USA, the radio is awesome and even like the riding position. Roadglides are doing what they are meant for: glide on the roads. No its not my next bike.

Workshop Wednesday: New Tank & Seat for the 1967 Ironhead

It took a while but the '67 Ironhead is looking way better: New ribbed tank will be installed soon, no paintjob planned so will be scotchbrite silver with clearcoat for now. The Duane Ballard seat is BITCHIN' ! You never saw a more detailed seat in your life, Duane is a bad ass. He is making seats for Paul Yaffe, Kim Boyle and lots of well known chopper builders and I'm stoked to have a real DB seat on my daugthers Avy's bike. It took a while but it was worth the wait. Now saving money for a seat for Boyd's 1972 Ironhead.

VANS off the Wall!

Don't be jealous, yes these are SLAYER VANS Slip ons and yes the others are Max Schaaf 4Q second edition. Customer # 00000001 paid his bill with these shoes, Black Money is golden but limited edition VANS is the best! Thanks Team for the awesome shoes and hope you are happy with your parts.

Today it was "Front brake day" for the '72. I bought an AMF cast wheel and sandblasted the bastard for hours and after putting it into the forks it turned out to be crooked so I wasted money and time, Naice! So back to the '86 frontwheel with a tire from the '67 with brake controls of the '72, do you still get it? I don't like to mix all kinds of stuff but with lack of money its the only thing to do and its fun to make it work even if it takes way longer. Cleaned the frontwheel/disc/brakecaliper/bolts so it looks like new even if the stuff is 25 years old. Lots of trouble with the brake line but it worked out in the end, no testride yet but will do soon. New Universal Motocross bars (de-anodised and pearlblasted) and grinded the brake lever so it fits the MX throttle.

FIRST CUSTOMER AT HOODLUM SOCIETY!

Today we had our first customer at the Hoodlum Society Workshop Wednesday shop: Andy Z from Germany. He bought a nice Harley-Davidson but it needed some small changes like a powder coat on the Tank dash/Horn cover/Chainguard/primary cover disc and this ugly sissybar. I cut the sissy bar cause we need the two rods as spacers (they were Euro 180,00! at the HD Dealer) so now Andy has the two for Euro 162,00. He saves 10%! hahhaa just kidding, I will keep the rest of the sissybar for my chopper and we are even. Thanks Andy for trusting us to do some work on your bike, Customer #00000001. New disc grinder I got from my lovely wife as present for my upcoming birthday Satuaday, it worked awesome, thanks again.

Please don't tell to other "chopper builders" ...

How cool is this! Bubble visor to make your Harley-Davidson a real racebike... Air is streaming better and will make you go at least 1 mile/hour faster and maybe it also gains 1/3 hp. Test ride next week. You saw this first at Hoodlum Society, proof me wrong.

Workshop Wednesday is Back! Not counting anymore....

I replaced the plastic gas filters cause they broke down after some weeks so only use metal filter housings from now on. Nice "flaming filter" for the '67 Ironhead and normal chrome metal house for the Flattracker. Lets see how long they last this time, the one on the '72 Ironhead is on for almost 5 years now with no problems so far. Next up: Exhaust for the 67, Mikuni Carb for the 86, Frontwheel/brake/forward controls for the 72 so lots of projects in this very busy time.

Workshop is closed till August

Time for Holidays so we won't be back before August. Projects in the works: Brakepedal for the XLH1000, made of Webco BMX crankarms, SNAFU BMX pedal axles, HARO BMX pegs, just like the shifter on the other side. Frontend of the 72 Ironhead will be an AMF cast wheel which I sandblasted for hours, the 11 1/2 inch disc is not working so I have to solve that problem when I'm back. Also the 67 Ironhead needs some new exhausts, I took the 1986 pipes and I like it very much so far, hope they are louder than the super silence slash cut pipes right now, I can hardly HEAR if the bike is still running, of course you don't need to hear an Ironhead cause it shakes you silly. We will be back!
