Workshop Wednesday E13-14 #19

Took the oiltank of the 1967 to remove the paint and although it was leaking a bit I found out that the ugly welds were from downsizing the tank. I bought an original Ironhead tank and that is way bigger. To keep the oil cleaner and a bit colder I will install the LowBrow external oilfilter later on. Now its time to cut the new oiltank and make it fit in the frame, I'm gonna add a cool feature but that stays a secret till its done. Remove the paint, cut 2 inch, weld it up, clearcoat, new oillines, new external oil filter, new oil is up next, enough for a couple of Workshop Wednesdays.

Workshop Wednesday E13-14 #18

Taillight of the '72 Ironhead was on the list for a long time and finally I found time to work on it. The Old Garage sticker was covering the clear licence plate lens so I took a newer style glass and made a licence plate light by drilling two holes, grinded it into a slot and took a piece of MX goggle glass to make a clear lens. The sissy bar was changed again cause this stupid motherfucker didn't think about clearance to take the lens of so I could never change a tail light on the road, now I can...

Workshop Wednesday E13-14 #17

Battery cover was chrome with some paint so I stripped the paint again and polished the chrome cover to make it smooth. Got some old TWIN AIR carbon look airbox stickers and since they make all my airfilters I gave them a bit extra love with the Twin Air logo on the battery box. Nice and clean.

'67 FORK UPDATE

The fork of the '67 Ironhead was not working properly and I found out the oil level was too high and after wasting a lot of fork oil on my clothes/shoes/floor it works better now. No testride yet but it can't be worser cause it looked like I had a "Hardfront" instead of "Hardtail".

Workshop Wednesday E13-14 #16

Its time to change the rubber ugly oil lines into steel braided lines. Took of the sprocket cover and found out the chain has hit the cover in the past so I grinded the plate to have more chain clearance and to make it look original. Clutch cable of a 1967 Ironhead is a pain in the ass to remove and after searching the WWW and Youtube nothing was found so I had to do it my own way again, yes it worked. Next up is installing the LOWBROW external Oil filter house, than new steel braided oil lines. Cleaned everything, polished the bolts to make it look as nice as possible.

Workshop Wednesday E13-14 #15

Happy New Year! 2014 will be a RIDING year instead of BUILDING year, I rode 500 miles in total with 5 Harley-Davidsons so I feel like a poser. I will make some changes to the bikes so I can ride in the rain too. Frontfender is much needed in The Netherlands, screw Chopper rules, screw Style points, screw everything: I WANNA RIDE WHENEVER I WANNA RIDE! Frontbrake is working fine, oh yes: Screw the "No Frontbrake is cool" rule too! Fresh oil is a fresh start for 2014, hope to see you on the road in 2014.
