Spending money on "school bikes" is not my thing, I never had a new school bike in my life and I don't blame my parents at all. I see kids destroying hundreds of dollar bikes in a few weeks so my kids are going to school on "indestructable BMX Bikes"... I spend $ 2,00 on this total bike, all parts are refurbished/welded/polished/re-bend etc so the only thing I used was a inner brake cable. An old "KHE PARIS FLATLAND" frame was used, cut out the cracked top and downtube and made it 1 inch shorter, sleeved it and welded it together, strong enough for a 5 year old.....I hope.
